No, it is absolutely free. We rely on donations from supporters to help us fulfill our mission.

How often and how long will you send cards? Expand

We will mail cards once a month for the amount of time you specify for the subscription period. If you choose the option “One time card only,” we will only mail one card, one time only. You will be notified by email when the card service subscription period is about to end with the option to renew.

When will the cards be mailed each month? Expand

Our goal is to mail the cards around the 15th of each month.

When will the first card get mailed? Expand

If you signed up between the 1‑10th of the month, the first card will be mailed in the current month. If you signed up after the 10th, the card service will begin the following month. You will be notified by email 3-5 days before the card is mailed. Our goal is to mail the cards around the middle of each month.

Will the person know I signed them up to receive cards or will it remain anonymous? Expand

You get to choose at the time you sign up whether you want the person to know you are the one who signed them up to receive cards. An insert will be included with the first card mailed, letting the recipient know the cards were requested on your behalf. If you wish to remain anonymous, select the box when you sign up. We will never disclose your name if you choose anonymous.

How do I renew the card service? The original card subscription has ended or is about to end. Expand

There are three ways you can renew:

  3. Reply to the monthly email you receive from Send A Smile Today, 3-5 days before the cards are mailed each month.
How do I cancel the card service? Expand

There are four ways you can cancel:

  3. Reply to the monthly email you receive from Send A Smile Today, 3-5 days before the cards are mailed each month.
  4. The card service cancels automatically when the subscription period ends and is not renewed.
How can I update the cancer patient’s home mailing address? Expand

There are two ways you can change the address:

  1. Change address online here.

We are a hospital, doctor’s office or cancer center that supports cancer patients. Can you send us cards for us to give out to our patients diagnosed with cancer? Expand

Yes, absolutely. We can provide you with greeting cards, envelopes, envelope seals & inserts to give to your patient. The inserts let the patient know how they can sign up with Send A Smile Today® to receive additional monthly greeting cards mailed straight to their mailbox. We can also provide you with Send A Smile Today® brochures. Email us at info@sendasmiletoday.org to request greeting cards or brochures.

Who founded Send A Smile Today®? Expand

Send A Smile Today® was founded in 2013 by Kim Whitehouse, a cancer survivor. In May 2011, at the age of 38 with a husband, 6-year-old daughter, and 9-year-old son, Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kim realizes that not all people going through cancer treatment have the same support that she had. This is why Kim created Send A Smile Today®. She wants to provide hope, love, and support to others going through cancer to let them know that others are thinking about them during this difficult time. Click Here to read more about Kim.

No, we do not.

Can I donate matching sized envelopes along with my card donations? Expand

We only accept A9 self-sealing envelopes size 5 3/4″ x 8 3/4″. Learn More.
